Introduction
The 'African Networks for Health Research and Development' (AFRO-NETS) electronic
conference was set up by SATELLIFE as a follow-up to the 'network of networks'

Essential National Health Research (ENHR) Network Conference in Kampala/Uganda.
The primary objective of the conference is to provide for exchange of information
between the different networks active in Health Research for
Development in the Eastern and Southern African Region. AFRO-NETS enhances
collaboration among the networks in the fields of capacity building, planning
and conducting research, and transformation of research recommendations into action, etc.
Topics for discussion include:
Advocacy for health research & development
Priority setting
Capacity building
Resource mobilisation

Dissemination of results
Utilisation of research findings

The AFRO-NETS conference also serves as a forum for the announcement of
meetings, training courses, and other events of interest to the
networks. In addition, research proposals, research results, and
other documents can be stored at the central computer and can
be retrieved via e-mail by anybody interested in them.
