E-DRUG: Banned drugs

I hope as part of your research you will obtain a copy of the WHO 
Guidelines for Drug Donations, WHO document number WHO/DAP/96.2.
     
You should also speak with Michael Reich, Assoc.Professor of 
International Health at the Harvard School of Public Health who has 
written on this subject.
     
Rest assured this is not a specifically an American phenomenon. When 
I was Coordinator of the Disaster Management Unit for CARE in 
Bangladesh, 1992-94, I arranged testing of CARE's stockpiles of ORS
(Oral Rehydration Solution) which had come into the country after the 
1991 cyclone from Thailand, Pakistan, Germany, and other countries.  
At least 2/3 of the samples were not manufactured to the WHO 
guidelines, and some would have actually been dangerous for children 
under five. We destroyed ORS stocks that didn't meet the standard.
