Proportional Mortality In 1994, 33.80% of all deaths in China were due to cardiovascular disease whereas 66.20% of all deaths were due to other causes. Of these CVD deaths, 57.18% were due to cerebrovascular diseases, 20.73% were due to ischemic heart diseases, 11.97% weredue to other CVD-related illnesses, 6.86% were due tohypertensive diseases, and 3.27% were due to chronic rheumaticheart disease.
