"Russia Has 4,242 HIV-infected People"

Activists announced on Thursday that there are 4,242 HIV-infected
people in Russia, with about 10 individuals contracting the virus every
day. Most of the infections have been attributed to intravenous drug use.
The activists, who made the statements as part of a news conference
anticipating May 18's AIDS Victims Day, called for comprehensive HIV
education and preventive measures to help stop the virus' spread.
