PROCAARE: TNCA Announcement

The Thai Non-Governmental Organizations Coalition on AIDS (TNCA) which is a
coalition of 107 NGOs that have work in the area of HIV/AIDS and a number of
Persons with HIV/AIDS groups, invites interested individuals and
organizations to share opinions, discussions, real life cases, or
documents/materials related to HIV/AIDS and Human Rights in Thailand.  This
is part of TNCA's open forum for discussions on the theme on the situation
of human rights and HIV/AIDS.  

Below are some key issues raised by TNCA members:
1.  Pre-employment HIV testing and the use of results for recruitment selection.
2.  Exclusion of HIV positive persons from financial loans for development
projects.
3.  Prohibition of HIV positive persons from entering Buddhist Monkhood.
4.  Confidentiality and HIV testing.
5.  Women and AIDS Prevention.
6.  Pregnancy and HIV.
7.  Disciminative medical treatment for HIV positive persons by certain
medical practitioners.
8.  Rights of children from families affected by HIV/AIDS and children who
are infected.

TNCA is interested in learning more about experiences others (within or
outside Thailand) and practical suggestions on ways to improve the human
rights of persons with HIV/AIDS.  TNCA members would also be interested in
sharing their own experiences on various related subjects.

TNCA will organize regional and national meetings on the status of human
rights and HIV/AIDS in during 1997.  Recommendations will be made to related
individuals and organizations leading to greater understanding and belief in
non-discriminative practices.
