RFI: HIV/AIDS/SIDA in Sub-Saharan African military (9)
------------------------------------------------------
Dear Doctor Archer,
Taking into consideration the replies what you have received, AND the
available data of WHO regarding the number and severity of HIV/AIDS
infection in certain populations I think that the best starting point
is to presume that the incidence rate is the same (or even a little
bit higher) in the military as in the corresponding national society.
It is a well known fact that the military personnel is responsible
(up to a certain degree) for the spreading of the epidemics. (Differ-
ent life-style, frequent moving, numerous sex partners, etc.) On the
other hand I am absolutely not sure that in the so-called "developed
countries" (USA, Germany, etc.) the requested data would be classi-
fied ones. Here, in my country (Hungary) the total incidence rate is
really low, therefore within our defence force the number of HIV+
persons is absolutely negligible.
