Indices: Non-drowsy sea-sickness treatment
Dear INDICErs & E-DRUGgers :),
Greetings! Here's probably an unusual question: can anyone recommend
sea-sickness treatment that do not cause drowsiness as a side effect?
Working
with an NGO running hospital-ships (www.mercyships.org), our pharmacy
volunteers have come across a problem of providing non-drowsy sea-sickness
treatments. We have on board antihistamines (cyclizine, cinnarizine etc) or
hyoscine for motion sickness, unfortunately they may cause drowsiness in
crew
who need to work in the engine room or on the bridge or decks for the
sailing
- crucial areas where performance affected by drowsiness can be potentially
dangerous. If possible we would also like to keep to the WHO Essential Drug
list items in our formulary. Thanks and blessings,
Kae :)
