Indices: Treatment of uncomplicated malaria (3)

I have no experience with the proposed combination and a quick
literature search did not yield any supporting articles other than their
use together in vitro. Given that both these agents can increase QT
interval I would be concerned about using them together in patients
especially in uncomplicated malaria. Essentially it will come down to
risk/benefit - how severely ill is the patient, what alternatives are
available given the parasite resistance profile, what facilities are
available for cardiac monitoring and resuscitation, etc. Personally, I
would not recommend it on the basis of alternative treatments being
available of lower risk.
