Indices: pralidoxime (PAM) (2)

The evidence to support the use of pralidoxime in organophosphate poisoning
is contradictory. Some authorities do not believe that it needs to be used.
Here's a list of some of the recent influential papers:

Johnson S, Peter JV, Thomas K, Jeyaseelan L, Cherian AM. Evaluation of two
treatment regimens of pralidoxime (1 g single bolus dose vs 12 g infusion)
in the management of organophosphorus poisoning. J Assoc Physicians India
1996;44:529-31.

Cherian AM, Peter JV, Samuel J, Jaydevan R, Peter S, Joel S, et al.
Effectiveness of P2AM (PAM ? pralidoxime) in the treatment of
organophosphorus poisoning (opp) a randomized, double blind placebo
controlled clinical trial. J Assoc Physicians India 1997;45:22-4.

of nerve agents and acute pesticide poisoning on the effects of oximes. J
Physiol Paris 1998;92:375-8.
