INDICES>RFI: Rifadin?
------------------------------
Dear Pharmacists
We recently had a child admitted to our hospital from Somalia who has
according to the mother received 9 months treatment of Rifadin. As far
as we can ascertain this is the only TB medication child has been
receiving. Could anybody verify if this is frequent practise in
Somalia? With difficulty we have also found out that the tablet is
round and pink-marroon. Would it likely be a Rifabutin? (combination
INH and rifampicin)? So far one Mantoux test has turned out negative,
to be repeated again.
Thank you
Josephine Maundu
