INDICES> MDD versus ODA in infective endocarditis
----------------------------------------------------
[rerouted from E-drug due to technical content; WB]
Dear INDICES readers,
Nowadays, more and more once daily dosing aminoglycoside is used as the
past studies showed that it is similar to that of conventional multiple
daily
dosing aminoglycosides in efficacy and even result in less nephrotoxicity.
However, under certain circumstances, multiple daily dosing is still
prefered,
for example, in infective endocarditis. May I know if there is any
literature or information regarding the necessity of using multiple daily
dosing
gentamicin instead of once daily dosing in the combination therapy for
infective endocarditis ( IE )? Is there any pharmacokinetics and
pharmacodynamics
consideration for using MDD gentamicin instead of OD gentamicin in IE?
Thank you
