INDICES> bismuth subcitrate

[rerouted from e-drug due to technical content; WB]
Dear Colleagues
In Australia the product Denol has been discontinued. It contained, as you
will be aware, bismuth subcitrate (colloidal). There are no other porducts
with the ingredient, other than triple therapy ulcer treatment packs - and
the manufacturuers of those won't split 'em!
Our Health Service has a patient who has, not an ulcer, but a chronic
micro-colitis that responds very well to the bismuth salt, and I am
searching an alternative product, and also a way for the patient easily to
get hold of it.
One suggestion has been to get Pepto Bismol by mail order, or e-ordering.
Does anyone know of appropriate sources, or have any comment on the
relevance of the product (ie would bismuth subsalicylate have any
quantitative clinical difference to the subcitrate)?
With all good wishes,
