INDICES> clofazimine, dapsone, rifampicin in pregancy? (2)
----------------------------------------------------------
Dear Julie,
We also tried looking for clinical trials of these drugs in pregnancy
but
failed to find any. You're right, the evidence on these drugs are
confusing. From the data that I've gathered, most of the older studies
on
dapsone say that it is contraindicated in pregnancy but newer studies,
although these are only case series and not clinical trials, say that
they
have not found any teratogenic or harmful maternal effects. There are
also conflicting results from studies on Clofazimine and Rifampicin.
I retrieved an abstract of a review article from a medline search and
attached it to this message as it might be helpful in your search for
further evidence on the use of leprosy drugs in pregnancy.
