INDICES> misoprostol/diclofenac combination (3)
-----------------------------------------------
In France, there is a fixed combination of Diclofenac 50 mg and Misoprostol
0,2 mg, which is contraindicated in women 'with a genital activity' (meaning
before menopause), unless an effective contraception is undertaken.
Uses mention that this association should be used only in case of previous
gastroduodenal ulcer or NSAID intolerance, where a NSAID treatment must be
performed.
Of course, with the arrival of coxibs, the use of this type of combination,
which is not well tolerated, should be exceptional.
Beyond this, there is also the possibility to use antiH2 or PPInhibitors to
prevent gastrointestinal damage.
Abortion is legal in France (under certain conditions) and although
misoprostol alone is not licensed for this use, its use is allowed in agreed
hospital centres.
