Dear Edith,

1) the combination of diclofenac and misoprostol is available in Pakistan under the name
ARTHROTEC by Searle.

2) By law it is a prescription only drug in the country.

3) The drug is relatively new yet. It is yet to be seen whether there is a real need for it as
there are other safer and cheaper therapies available and being used.

4) Although several doctors know about the abortifacient properties of misoprostol, its use as
an abortifacient is very limited because of the illegal status of abortion in the country. I
know that in the public sector it is relatively unheard of while in the private sector,
information about this property does exist.
