Indices: Intravenous Ibuprofen (3)
----------------------------------------------
There is no IV Ibuprofen available in the UK. IM forms of Diclofenac and
Ketoprofen are licensed for post operative use but are irritant so should be
given deep into the gluteal muscle to limit pain and tissue
damage. Ketorolac is less irritant and can be given IV. A recent paper in
the BMJ (18 November 2000) describes a double blind randomised controlled
trial showing that intravenous ketorolac is a more cost effective analgesic
than intravenous morphine in the managemnt of isolated limb injury.
