Dear Joe,

I can think of two reasons to prefer atropine: It can be given
intramuscularly in emergencies by non-medical personnel and it will
penetrate the blood-brain barrier unlike glycopyrrholate which is a
quaternary ammonium base.
Outside anaesthesiology glycopyrrholate is little used and it is far
more expensive than generic atropine.
