INDICES> Huatuo Zaizao Pills (2)
--------------------------------
Working in an essential drug program in Tibet, we were faced with
working out what was in the available Chinese medicines. It is
important to look at the actual products. The ingredients should be
written on the containers in Chinese characters as should the
indication. With Chinese-English medical dictionaries translation is
possible. For example there is a Chinese character for the word
aspirin, etc. In close consultation with our translators and Chinese
speaking colleagues we could get a very good idea of the actual
ingredients in a product and the recommended indications.
Investigations about whether they were appropriate, safe or not could
start from there. The strength of ingredients was not always present.
best wishes
