INDICES> Poisons Centres List (2)
---------------------------------

Dear INDICESsers,

I suggest that you access the site of the INTOX Project which is maintained by WHO,
the International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS) and the WORLD LABOUR
ORGANIZATION. The address of the World Directory of Poisons Centres is at

http://www.intox.org/pagesource/yellowtox/yellowtox.htm

2. There are many sites for pesticides but I like the OECD site which is at

http://www.oecd.org/ehs/peslnks.htm

3 Otherwise you may try the UNEP + WHO - GEENET site at

http://www.chem.unep.ch/

but that one takes some more time just as the site of the US Environment Protection
Agency at

http://www.epa.gov/

4. On a more global (environmental) note those who have time may wish to access
the Infoterra site at

http://www.unep.org/unep/eia/eis/infoterr/home.htm

INFOTERRA is an international environmental referral and research network made
up of about 175 countries coordinated by the United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.

5. The best site for Poison Centres appears to be maintained by Associate
Professor P. Gopalakrishnakone, Venom and Toxin Research Group, Department of
Anatomy, National University of Singapore at the following address

http://valentine.mip.nus.edu.sg/PID/

6. The lazy ones among us may choose to go directly to

http://medweb.nus.edu.sg/PID/PCC/centre.html

but then they miss a few good things.

7. There is Poison-Net which is a mail list "dedicated to information sharing,
problem solving, and networking in the areas of poisoning, poison control,
hazardous materials management and related areas". Information at

http://www.pitt.edu/~martint/pages/poisonet.htm

8. If you become desperate for information on toxics then access the Poison
Information Centers and Organizations site at

http://www.pitt.edu/~martint/pages/poisres.htm

Its colourful, complete and includes information on plants, venomous creatures.

9. The server of the Karolinska Institute at

http://www.mic.ki.se/Diseases/c21.html

may provide information not obtainable elsewhere.
