INDICES> ciprofloxacin and metronidazole in first trimester
-----------------------------------------------------------
dear indices friends,
One of our clients has taken a full course of ciprofloxacin
injection, metrogyl injection, cephlaexin
and also nimesulide (one tablet) for gastroenteritis.
She has taken the drug during her first trimester. LMP was
25th may 2000. but actual ovulation period and other
calculation she has taken the drug (21-23 of June)
during 3 or 4th week of pregnancy. Cipro and
metronidazole is contraindicated in first trimester.
Is there any supporting document that she can go ahead
with the pregnancy and she is 29 year old it is her
first prgnancy. Each gynacologists has different
opinion.
Kindly help
Lakshmi

[apart from the danger for the foetus (any expert advice from INDICESsers?),
what about the patient herself? It does not sound a very rational cocktail of
drugs that she received for gastroenteritis!
Why injections? Was it not normal vomiting in pregnancy?? WB]
