Hi friend and colleague.
Neostigmine is a rather potent cholinergic agent which inhibits
acetylcholine esterase and thus gives increased acetylcholinergic
effects, increased salivation, increased intestinal peristaltic motility
- may cause diarrhoea and even abdominal cramps. Do take care since
over-dosage may cause "cholinergic intoxication" with both muscarinic
and nicotinergic effects !
Neostigmine may thus speed -up the peristaltic inner life of the
constipated human body. There are some studies published on the use of
Neostigmine to treat severe constipation, following spinal cord injury
