Tammy Priest, in the Western Province, Papua New Guinea, who
asked:

I have a drug information question-if you have time would
you mind seeing if you can find some information? We had a
lady on TB treatment (INAH, rifampicin, pyrazinamide) and
chloramphenicol PO for pneumonia. She developed SLE
butterfly rash ? secondary to INAH. I am wondering if there
is any info regarding which CYTP450 isoenzyme CMP is a
substrate for and which ones it inhibits/induces. We have a
Martindale 29 here which I have looked in. It has some
info re CMP interactions-nothing that helps with
regard to INAH however. I am wondering that now the CMP
is finished, will it be safe to reintroduce INAH after the
reaction clears up. We have changed her to ethambutol
currently.

CMP is the DRUG OF CHOICE for most infections
here-unfortunately other standard therapies include
aminophylline, phenobarbitone, phenytoin, cimetidine....!
Basically a drug interaction cacophony.

Please reply to Tammy directly at ko9smtp@copoktd.bhp.com.au
Many thanks
