I am writing from the Hesperian Foundation, publisher of "Where There Is No
Doctor" and other self-help health care materials for use in poor
communities throughout the world. We are looking for assistance with 2
current projects:

1. We are translating another of our publications: "Where Women Have No
Doctor" into Spanish and need to know the most common brand names for some
of the medicines available in different countries throughout Latin America.

2. We are starting to research and write a health care book for women with
disabilities. We have compiled a list of medicines that women in the United
States with particular disabilities take routinely. Now we are starting to
compare these medicines with the medicines we will be recommending in the
new book (for example: various hormonal family planning methods, antibiotics
for infections such as pressure sores and STDs) to see what
contraindications there might be. Also, we want to see which of the
medicines disabled women in the US take that are also available in other
countries.

We would appreciate any suggestions for resources that will help us with
these 2 projects. For the Spanish "Where Women Have No Doctor," please
respond to Todd Jailer at <todd@hesperian.org>; and for the disability
project, please respond to Jane Maxwell at <janem@hesperian.org.

Thank you very much.
