Our use of ceftriaxone is restricted to the treatment of adult and neonatal
meningitis. Recently, we have opened its use to those infections not
responding to conventional treatment. It is a restricted antibiotic and a
special form has to be filled which permits supply. Supply can only be made
on bacteriological reports.
Our a/b guidelines recommends a dose of 100mg/kg (max 4g/dose) iv as a
single dose daily for 10-14 days.
Trust this is useful.
Regards, Abdul.
