Do benzodiazepines relax skeletal muscle?

(Wow--a *very* tardy reply, but)
Our province's pediatric hospital uses diazepam as a
centrally-acting agent in kids with cerebral palsy
who have muscle spasms. Doesn't work directly on
muscle but damps down output from a damaged motor
cortex. Can't think of any other patient population
that it would work on--maybe postop/posttrauma
patients.
