I-Pill a morning after oral contraceptive (6)
********************************************
Dear Dr Gopal,
There are several contraceptives available in the market to make it possible to have a "free for all" by teenagers or otherwise which are also more effective than the emergency contraceptive pill. The very name indicates that it is for contraceptive emergency and
not for regular use, thus, I do not understand why this hue & cry. In fact teenagers usually do not indulge into planned sexual activity and the least because e-pill is available. If it is a planned activity I am sure a better and more effective method would be chosen.
This is only a back up method and the use should be limited for this indication only. There are very specific indications outlined for using E-pill. For detailed information you may visit www.aiims.ac.in and link to guidebook for emergency contraception.
However, anything and everything can be misused, one should try and prevent that, rather then try to stop something useful.
