INDO-US SYMPOSIUM (1)
********************

Dear friends and colleagues,

Brain disorders including psychiatric diseases, stroke, drugs of abuse and alcoholism are major health concerns worldwide. These brain disorders may be due to adaptative changes in the brain that lead to damage to neurons and the brain and modulation the behavior. Stress and psychiatric disorders are crucial factors in promoting alcohol and drug addiction. Several mechanisms may be involved in this process and one such mechanism may be related to alterations in the gene expression due to changes in the activities of gene transcription factors. Neurotransmitters and/or neuromodulators produce their effects by activating the gene transcription factors and by modulating the expression of several target genes. These interactive molecular mechanisms may be important in the pathogenesis of brain disease.

You will be happy to know that we are organizing an INDO-US SYMPOSIUM ON NOVEL THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES FOR THE TREATMENT OF NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS on November 19, 2007 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
