Dear friends,
   
All India Drug Action Network (AIDAN, www.aidanindia.org) will be held on 27th December 2007 (just before MFC MEET which is on 28th and 29th December) at the Shaheed Hospital, Dalli Rajhara, Durg District, Chhattisgarh State. You are most welcome to participate and kindly circulate this invitation among the groups that you know. 
   
  This meet is planned at the Shaheed Hospital, not only because it is witness to major social processes that concern health workers in the state of Chhattisgarh, but also because this is the 25th anniversary of its establishment. Please make your travel plans soon.
  
How to reach the venue: 
   
Dalli Rajhara is 75 kilometers from Durg by road. Frequent private buses ply on this route. From Raipur, the distance is about the same, but bus connections are not so frequent. Durg and Raipur are both on the main Howrah - Bombay rail route. Raipur and Durg are also accessible from Visakhapatnam for those coming from the south. Raipur is connected by air to Bombay, Delhi, Nagpur, Visakhapatnam, Calcutta, Madras, Indore and Ahmedabad.

The following tentative agenda is suggested. Some of these were discussed at the informal meeting of mini AIDAN group held in the evening (6.30 pm) on 10-10-2007 at Hyderabad during the workshop organized by CENTAD: -
   
Drug Pricing;-
  a) National Pharmaceutical policy - Group of Ministers Drug Pricing Issue,
  b) Campaign on Drug price and access to medicines and strategies to revive and strengthen the Supreme Court case filed by LOCOST, AIDAN, MFC and JSS.
   
c) Rational Use of Drugs - Fixed Dose combinations ? Identifying of experts to be included in the committee which the industry & state drug controllers want. Three names suggested Dr PK Sarkar, Dr PK Gulati and Dr Mathur.
 d) The drugs & cosmetics Amendment Bill 2007 (Gulati & Mira had made a  submission in the Parliamentary subcommittee hearing earlier)
e)  Central Drug Regulatory Authority Bill (earlier there was Mashelkar Committee Report Expert Committee on Comprehensive Examination of drug Regulatory issues) including the problem of spurious drugs.
f) Mashelkar Committee Report 
g) Rational Use of Antibiotics & Antibiotic Resistance 
h)The Corruption in Drug purchase as leaked out in the World Bank Report. The three National Programs mentioned were RCH, TB & Malaria. 
i) DCGI statement on Nimesulide that is not licensed for use in children. AIDAN can have a press briefing in Delhi on the issue of irrational and hazardous which can be disseminated all over the country.
j)Patents and Access to Medicines, Vaccines 
WHO IGWG (Intergovernmental Working Group on Public Health, Innovation and Intellectual Property) has been appointed to look in to the TRIPS, IPRs and innovations etc. - submit a memorandum to the IGWG.

AIDAN conducts workshops on Rational Drugs in a phased manner in different parts of the country.
BODHI as a vehicle to disseminate drug related information and advocacy work of AIDAN.
Others: - i) Registration of AIDAN, ii) Formation of lead persons for each group.
