Summer Certificate Course in ARV Program Management (1)
******************************************************
There are still a few seats open in the "Antiretroviral (ARV) Program Management and Adherence Issues in Low Resource Settings" certificate course offered July 17-25, 2007 at the Boston University School of Public Health.
This course explores practical skills to effectively manage the unique challenges of ARV management, including difficulties with pharmaceutical supply systems and logistics, insufficient human resources, and barriers to ARV adherence. The course will also focus on drug management skills, including selection and procurement, and on the quantification and promotion of ARV adherence.
If you are a policy maker, ARV program manager, social scientist, pharmacist, physician, nurse, or a public health professional interested in ARV management and adherence, this course is ideally suited to your professional development needs.
The course format is highly interactive, with presentations by international experts followed by facilitated group exercises and discussion. A collection of useful articles and resources will be provided to participants on arrival. The agenda also includes a focus-group session with persons living with HIV/AIDS and a field visit to an ARV adherence clinic in the Boston area.
Brenda Waning, (MPH, Rph) Assistant Professor at BUSPH, Richard Laing (MD), Medical Officer for WHO Geneva, and Michael Montagne (PhD, RPh), Professor at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy will jointly teach this course.
The popular course is filling up; please contact us soon for information on how to apply!
