Antibiotic Prescribing In Children In India (5)
***********************************************
Saving antibiotics as a last of armamentarium is essential. But the greed of antibiotics manufacturers to make huge profits by forcing higher generation antibiotics on community is responsible. Doctors also take it casually to prescribe newer antibiotics to children as well elders. I can say this because I am in pharma marketing since last 30 years.
Bringing older antibiotics in purview of DPCO and leaving newer generations outside, causes manufacturer to promote non-DPCO antibiotics and it is thrust on patients irrespective of the potential harm.
Mass awareness creating articles should appear on the matter and NGOs should be asked to co-ordinate along with medical fraternity. Though the task difficult with the help of health ministry it can be achieved. If WHO has any guideline on an issue it can be used as a lead article. Best wishes for your project.
