Pharmacist and Doctor important Link (23)
*****************************************

Dear members,

I agree partly with Dr.Chetna Desai, DIC (hospital attached) can successfully provide information to hospitals. This is an ideal situation. But thinking of Indian situation, who will serve the community? If we train doctors in drug information, how many of them will be interested in training pharmacists or nurses? But if we train some post graduate or doctorate pharmacists they can train all. Moreover as Sampada said, our center is also 10 year old running successfully and now we have trained 10 more pharmacists to set up the DIC for their state. It is not the question of pharmacist or doctor, it is not the question of independent or hospital attached, it is ultimately, commitment to work towards betterment of society at large. Jipmer is the best example; a MD pharmacologist was trained in drug information (WHO fellowship?) but what is happening there? But Dr.Gitanjali is another exception from same institute who does work for the pharmacist! Ultimately selecting committed individuals is the basic requirement, nothing else.
