Pharmacist and Doctor: Important Link (7)
***************************************
Dear Doctors:
A good debate! I think majority of our medical fraternity would say yes to the question put i.e. pharmacists may be a qualified helping hand to the doctor in future. But even if all of them are in favor of it, how it is going to be achieved? How are we going to educate them? Majority of the pharmacy shops in India are run by non-qualified people simply on the name of a qualified pharmacist who is sent his/her monthly share/salary at his/her home without sitting at the pharmacy. If we find an answer to this I think we may be near to achieving this goal of involving pharmacists in helping doctors.
To begin with I think it would be just a suggestion to help distribute the book mentioned by Shanti Pal i.e., "Developing Pharmacy Practice ? a Focus on Patient Care", to all the pharmacists in India to make them understand what is their role and what patient care can be all about. It may be a good beginning. We may help print and distribute this book to
all the pharmacists in India if due permissions etc are given.
