Pharmacist and Doctor: Important Link
*************************************
I would like to invite the debate on ?can pharmacists really be an able qualified helping hand to the doctor in India in near future?? I have seen in many places that even doctors involved in crosspathy do not want to avail pharmacist?s services and doctors have pretty low opinion of this professional stratum. I agree that our pharmacists need to upgrade themselves and start giving professional services to patients in drug store or hospital pharmacy, such as counseling on therapy prescribed. But do our doctors want these practicing pharmacists carry out patient counseling, advice doctor on prescription if it needs to be altered? If we in India are speaking of establishing pharmacy practice at advanced level, our prescribers also need to accept the true role of a healthcare professional that a pharmacist needs to play along side the prescriber. Prescriber and dispenser of medicines have to be in harmony for betterment of public health.
Thanks and regards
