unnecessary wastage of medicines (9)
*************************************
Dear All,
Establishment of "Drug Banks" can also help tackle this problem to some extent. Currently surplus medicines (drug samples) with private practitioners, excess medicines in households, and such other sources are usually "donated" to charitable institutions, hospitals, etc. However these centers may not have effective systems of storing or distributing the right drugs to the needy. Drug banks can address these problems as they are more organized, they are mannned by persons with some know how about medicines and hence the chances of errors are less. The banks can be situated in medical institutions, hospitals of at health centers. Proper promotion of these "Banks" will not only ensure collection of the surplus medicines but also redistribution to places where necessary.
