Affordibility of Essential Medicines (6)
***************************************
Dear I - Drug Members,
It is true that affordibility of essential medicines is a serious problem in our country and there is an urgent need that government takes all necessary measures to ensure that essential medicines are made available at affordable price for public of India. Neverthless, access to essential medicines can only be ensured if affordibility is supported by sustained financing simultaneously. While former is entirely the responsibility of the government, later is the responsibility of government and administrators. It is a pity that there is apathy at all levels. The situation becomes worst when health professionals and public themselves contribute to lack of access to the essential medicines by way of irretional use. We the academicians have to identify our role and let us do our bit.
Best wishes,
