Affordability of medicines in India (3)
**************************************

Though I have not read in original the article by Kiran, but if the center
point of the drug price control in India has been questioned only on the
basis that affordability of medicine is not a problem in India then it is
certainly not based on the facts.Rather it can be simply called as
individual perception.

One of the important causes of resistance in tuberculosis in India is poor
patient compliance. The affordability of treatment is one major cause even
when the drugs are subsidised.

For buying medicine people have to sell their belongings. It is not rare.

There has to be a balance to promote the Indian R&D and the welfare of the
public at large for whome the R&D is ultimately for.

Many thanks Ms Reji for providing the useful data .
