Dear Ashwini,

             Yours is a very practical approach and I  feel this is one 
method which is likely to give positive results.

           I  vividly recall that around 1984 or so while working for the 
WHO,EMRO, I had prepared a small publication for the EMRO, WHO, 
Alexandria, there too the suggestion was to use the literate 
population-teachers and para medics to use these 20 commonly used drugs. 
They were to be exposaed to a short training course Prof. Ranjit Roy 
Choudhury was the Regional Adviser Drugs and Pharmaceuticals at that time 
with the Alexandria Who  Office.I  am sure if you contact him you would get 
a lot more information.
