Teaching Pharmacology and Therapeutics (23)
***********

I have seen your analysis on why doctors learn prescribing from MRs. Well you mentioned education and greed and overlooked and brushed away greed as nothing can be done for this. I do not agree. That is basically our problem in this country. Why can't we do anything may I ask? Can't doctors and their associations impinge upon their fellows in profession to be honest? Can't the drugs manufacturers be insisted upon not to gift doctors? Can't information on drugs be obtained form the drug manufacturers and distributed to the profession? Make a beginning and the path will open wide. However we may have to face stiff resistance beware.

As far as training in medical colleges is concerned, I agree that sufficient education on the issue is not imparted to the students. However even if they are, by the time they start practicing, newer drugs are in the market and they have to start from scratch. Some amount of detailing has to be done by the drug manufaturers for this.
