Teaching Pharmacology and Therapeutics (18)
***********
Dear Dr. Datta,
It is so nice to know that you too have a keen
interest in the teaching of pharmacology to medical students and we have
similar back ground. I went to McMaster for the 14 days orientation
programme in 1985. We started the PBL PROGRAMME at the College of
Medicine, Arabian Gulf University,Bahrain in 1984 and I worked there for 18
years. As I happened to be there from the start of the new medical school,
it gave me an opportunity to be involved in the planning, structuring, conducting, designing of newer programmes writing simulated patient problem the tutor guide etc. keeping in mind that we were not McMaster and had to make necessary local minor modifications and finally organize the various formative and summative evaluation.I do feel bad that in India there is no single institution even today which is following the PBL SYSTEM where there is integration of all the disciples and the learning is through small group tutorials. I would be certainly looking forward to having the material you have so painstakingly kept for me. Prof. Ranjit Roy Choudhury has been my senior and mentor and my association with him has been for more than 43 years!.
All good wishes
Sincerely
V.S.Mathur
