Teaching Pharmacology and Therapeutics (9)
***********

Dear Umaji,
I just saw your letter on Teaching of Pharmacology and
Therapeutics, I agree with you that the effort of teaching therapeutics
should not be restricted to the teachers of pharmacology but should be
spread to the clinical disciplines, in fact it should be a joint venture. I
am aware that at the Maulana Azad Medical College, you, Prof. Usha Gupta
and your colleagues have contributed a lot. Perhaps, if you could highlight
in the form of a brief document in these columns, all that you people are doing in the undergraduate teaching and evaluation of your pharmacology curriculum would help others interested to follow some of your modules. I understand several institutions in the south are already doing so. Prof. Gitanjali, Prof. Adityan and the group at JIPMER are also very active in pursuing possible modifications in the curriculum so that more emphasis is given to therapeutics, rational selection and prescribing of drugs, the concept of a limited drug list-the P drugs.I n this connection a very important workshop was organized by the JIPMER GROUP last month, the out come of this workshop and their recommendations should be brought to the notice of all interested individuals.

All good wishes.

Sincerely,

V.S.Mathur
