Teaching Pharmacology and Therapeutics (3)
**********

Dear Friends,

I agree with Ms Manjula. We have in the past conducted workshops/training programs in Problem Based learning techniques. In my opinion these programmes are good in as far as dissemination of skills and knowledge is concerned. What is required is to try and change the attitude of medical teachers as well. Teachers first would want to change and work towards adopting newer techniques in teaching therapeutics. A number of pharmacologists have tried to incorporate teaching of therapeutics based on PBL techniques. Unfortunately there is no carry forwaed mechanism whereby the students continue to use those techniques later during their clinical postings and these training remain something that only pharmacologists want to advocate.

Best wishes,

Uma Tekur
