Drug advertising to consumers/practitioners(2)
************

Dear Ms Shafiq

This is so true and the issue so very important. It would be so useful to have a system in place to regulate these ads on TV - advocacy campaigns on the subject, though not the only answer, could be a starting point.

Respected Sir,

I wish to thank you once again for inviting me to this forum.

Yet another issue that concerns me and many of us here are regarding 'direct
to consumer advertising' and the related issue of 'drug related information
given by pharmaceutical company resprestentatives'. While advertisements for
pain killers, antacids continue to thrive on our tv screens, pharmaceutical
company representatives make best use of the paradigm of 'exaggerated
facts',' partial truths' and sometimes even 'distorted truths' to target
practitioners. Could we get some systems into place to check these at
institutional and perhaps also at national level?
