Invitation letter, AIDAN meet, Vellore, 
January 26th, 2006

Dear drug activists and friends,

Though different people have been active as All India
Drug Action Network (AIDAN) we have not had an AIDAN
meeting for a long time. After this long break, we are
planning for an AIDAN meet on 26th January 2006 at
Vellore (just one day prior to Medico Friend Circle -
meet). This is to invite you to this AIDAN meet. 

The following agendas have been suggested:- 

Organizational issues: 
 
1.	Organizational Review of AIDAN ; consensus during the 'Drug Action Meet' in Mumbai, Sept. 03, AIDAN's relationship with JSA, 
2.	Membership, conveners, president, 'core group? meetings, e-group, funds, AIDAN brochure, responsibilities

Programmatic issues - 
3.	Overview of the current drug scenario.
4.	Follow up of Sept 2003 'Drug Action Meet' Mumbai
Meet in Mumbai ? follow up (minutes of this meeting can be sent on request as attachment).
5.	Dissemination and translation of the Kolkata declaration.
6.	Supreme Court case on drug pricing ? updates and identifying areas of support & Review of new pricing policy and/or Task Force Report on Drug Pricing.
7.	Core group formation and its responsibilities. 
8.	Future plans and activities of AIDAN.
9.	Drugs, health and GATS and WTO.

Since we are meeting for a short period of time i.e. only for one day, we may not be able to discuss in depth about many issues and the above agendas are just an outline. But with emerging changes especially in the area of patents and drug pricing, we need to be having sufficient ideas to give guidelines and directions to our collective action as the AIDAN core
group that gets formed on that day. There is a suggestion that AIDAN core group be formed which will meet in between annual meets. So please bring ideas and areas of probable activities and actions for future of AIDAN. Not just only on issues but also on the vision about its future and in addition what responsibilities each one are is ready to share. After all AIDAN will be what we all agree to take up common responsibilities. It will be neither less nor more! 
We hope would to start by 9 am on 26th January 2006. The venue will be the same as that of MFC -meet. The contact person for the venue at Vellore is Ms Sara (Telephone number 04162282730). Details as to how to

DETAILS REGARDING THE VENUE: - There will be some expense in relation to accommodation, food etc. It may come to approximately Rs. 150 - 200 / head.

Katpadi station is situated 130 kilometers from Chennai central and 232 kilometers from Bangalore city junction. Katpadi is well connected by trains.
