Response to Pooled pharmaceutical procurement
---------------------------------------------
I think that it is very improtant to have a centralized rate contract
of drugs that are of good quality for the whole country. This will not
only lower the procurement prices but also reduce supply time. A large

amount of money is spent on local purchases of expensive brands by the
public sector and corporate hospitals. The costs of these is many
times higher and the quality is uncertain. Studies in some of the
states have showen that the procurement officials are afraid of making
the purchases and the stockouts of essential drugs is very high at the
public sector hospitals. This is a very improtant matter and deserves
an immediate attention.
