Response to Drug Promotion in India
--------------------------------------

Dear I-Druggers,

I congratulate Dr.Pabrai and Raj for expressing thoughts right form
thier heart. These are just about feelings of every responsible
citizen, leave alone health care professionals. This sort of a felling
has long been suppressed in most of us. It was timely that such a
discussion came up.
When I was doing practice, I used to see so many cases of Irritant
contact dermatitis due to application of ringsolin. Anything that
itches is not tinea, after all. Even Malignant melanoma (a form of skin
cancer) can itch.Itch guard, ring guard etc have all been there,
falsely claiming that they would cure itching. At one side of the
problem, we have drug promotions giving inadequate information. On the
other hand we have drug promtions such as this encouraging patients to
use their own diagnostic skills and only land up creating trouble. I
request other I-druggers to voice their views so that all of us can
join hands and represent this to the concerned authorities.
