Our Bureau, Mumbai
The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER)
is holding a training programme from 19-31 January 2004 for drug
regulatory staff.
The training programme is part of Capacity Building Project funded by
the World Bank under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GOI for
imparting training to drug regulatory staff, personnel from small-scale
industry and staff from public and private drug testing laboratories.
Nearly 35 participants from drug control offices from all over the
country and the same number of speakers from industry and Central Drugs
Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) have confirmed their
participation for the two-weeks programme, an official release said.
The purpose of the course is to train Indian drug regulators so that
they are on par with their international counterparts. It has become
important as international regulatory authorities are becoming very
stringent and are continuously upgrading their guidelines on the
maintenance of GCPs, GLPs, cGMP, quality specifications, the release
noted.
The training programme will cover classroom sessions on relevant
topics, industrial visits and also laboratory trainings at the
state-of-art facilities of NIPER. The second training programme would
be for the production staff from Small Scale Industries (SSI) and would
be held from 23-27 February 2004 with an intake of 50. The third, again
for drug regulatory staff, is to be held from 15-27 March 2004 and
would have about 40 participants.
Nominations are invited from quality control and production staff from
small-scale industry and also personnel from public/private drug
testing laboratories. The calendar for the programmers will be
announced from time to time, the release added.
