SATELLIFE's GetWeb server
--------------------------
Dear subscribers,
SATELLIFE's GetWeb server allows you to request the content of World
Wide Web pages through email. Basically, you need to know the URL (the
Web address) of a Web page you would like to retrieve. Content will be
returned as plain text or pdf.
How to use GetWeb to retrieve documents
----------------------------------------
1. Compose a new e-mail message to the following address:
getweb@healthnet.org
2. Leave the Subject line blank. In the body of the message, type the
command
'get' followed by the URL of the Web page you want to retrieve.
3. To retrieve a document from the Essential Drugs Monitor #32 for
example,
'Dispensing prescribers - a threat to appropriate medicines use?'
URL http://www.who.int/medicines/mon/32_4.pdf
your message will look like the following (include 'begin'and 'end'
without the
quotation marks, leaving a blank line between the words):
------------------------------------------------------------------
To: getweb@healthnet.org
From: <your email address>
Subject:
Cc:
Attached:
------------------------------------------------------------------
begin
get http://www.who.int/medicines/mon/32_4.pdf
end
--------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Send your message.
4. You will receive an email message with the article as an attached
pdf file.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free software for opening pdf files
that
can be downloaded from www.adobe.com) to open the document. Just click
on the
pdf icon and the document will open.
5. If you wish to receive more than one document at a time, you can
include several
URLs in the same message by repeating the command 'get' followed by the
appropriate
URL, each on a separate line. Remember to leave an empty line between
the commands.
