Analysis of drug utilization in a tertiary level Indian hospital
------------------------------------------------------------------
(Copied from Edrug. Thanks.
The India drug participants are strongly urged to share their
experiences and throw some light on drug utilization study in India.

Dear All,
It is possible to conduct inpatient drug utilization studies using
1)ddd/bed-day
2)ddd/100 bed-days
3)ddd/1000 bed-days(patient or inpatient days).
Previous studies were conducted using all three methods.
However ddd/1000pd (patient or inpatient or bed-days)
is convenient method to do drug utilization study in a tertiary care
hospital. Tertiary care admitted or inpatients normally receive all
medicines from hospital especially in developing countries.
with kind regards
Dr G B Simpson
