Mifepristone

------------

Mifepristone is also called RU-486 and was developed in France. Its
role as a post coital contraceptive I had read about and its role as an
abortifacient also, but can it be handled easily by patients
themselves?? .
I have seen such pamphlets for patients at doctors clinics. Is it
permitted in India? Even for fist trimester abortion/MTP has it been
approved by FDA? The pamphlets of the company are all aimed at the
patient - yes they do give the warning that it must be given under a
doctor's supervision - as they make it sound so easy and simple for 90%
safe and sure aborting in the first six weeks!
