Launch of STG in Delhi
---------------------------------

Dear All,
Experience has shown that even when drug supply is based on an
Essential Drugs List, ample opportunity exists for ineffective, unsafe,
or wasteful prescribing. The Standard Treatment Guidelines would offer
immeasurable help to clinicians for prescribing rationally, thereby
reducing cost and enhancing efficacy. The Delhi Society for Promotion
of Rational Use of Drugs addressed itself to this felt need and set
about the task of preparing STGs for 285 conditions under 10
specialties. Seventy clinicians from various specialties worked hard
for 18 months to complete these guidelines.
You would be happy to know that these STGs are now ready for launch.
Dr. A.K. Walia, Minister of Health & Urban Development, Government of
NCT of Delhi would be releasing these guidelines on 7th November, 2002
at 12 noon at the Auditorium of Maulana Azad Medical College.
With best regards,
Dr. Sangeeta Sharma
